Nintendo 3DS Crosses 4 Million Mark In The US
Don’t Stop Believin’
Wow. Who’d have thought that the Nintendo 3DS - Nintendo’s widely predicted doomsday device – would be celebrating an astonishing record-breaking sales achievement.
The glasses-free 3D portable console has surpassed the 4 million sales mark in a mere 9 months in the US, vanquishing the sales record previously set by another of Nintendo’s hardware, the Nintendo Wii. Spurred by the influx of tantalising titles such as Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7, not only did Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart become the fastest-selling titles in the history of their respective franchises when they launched, but they are now also the first Nintendo 3DS titles to sell 1 million units each in the United States.
The Nintendo 3DS‘ success is predicted to continue in 2012, with a strong line-up of desirable software hitting the market this year such as Kid Icarus: Uprising, Resident Evil: Revelations and Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater.
Hats off to Nintendo for a sterling recovery. Guess the handheld market isn’t quite dead yet!
