Metal Gear Solid: Legacy Collection “Too Big” For Xbox
Metal Gear Solid 4 Alone Would Be Seven Discs, Kojima Says
Hideo Kojima has offered an explanation for why Metal Gear Solid: Legacy Collection won’t be coming to Xbox – it’s just too big.
Speaking on the latest episode of his radio show (translated by Kotaku), Kojima said Metal Gear Solid 4 alone would make the package too large for Microsoft’s console.
“I’m sorry to say an Xbox 360 version isn’t being released, because an Xbox 360 version of MGS4 hasn’t gone on sale,” he explained. “To explain the situation, the amount of data in MGS4 is just too enormous.”
Kojima went on to say that Metal Gear Solid 4 was released on Sony’s Blu-ray disc, which is capable of storing substantially more data than the Xbox 360 DVDs. According to Kojima it would take seven discs to hold the game.
“I want to put [The Legacy Collection] out,” Kojima added, “but we won’t be releasing it.”
He added that the collection could possibly appear on the next-gen Xbox.
The collection will be available in June and packages together Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3 (which includes the original MSX versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2), Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions and Metal Gear Solid 4: Trophy Edition.
