Metal Gear Solid 5 Officially Unveiled
Phantom Pain Revealed To Be MGS5
Hideo Kojima has officially unveiled Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
The Kojima Productions studio head announced the game during an ongoing GDC session that Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain are both part of Metal Gear Solid 5.
He showed off a lengthy trailer for the game featuring an attack on a private base, which bares more than a passing resemblance to the Militaires Sans Frontiers base introduced in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Snake, who Kojima revealed winds up in a coma for 9 years, is later seen lying in a hospital bed alongside Kaz Miller.
Kojima then demoed the opening tutorial running on PC, which begins with Snake waking from his coma in a hospital.
Metal Gear Solid 5 will be an open world game, but one that begins as an on rails experience with the tutorial section, which has been designed to familiarise players with the controls as Snake re-familiarises himself with basic human functions like movement.
The game will be released on PS3 and Xbox 360.
