Fallout 4 Listed For Release Sometime In 2015

Fallout, the iconic post-apocalyptic retro-futurist franchise, seems set for another installment. Webhallen, a Swedish online store has listed a new Fallout title slated for release in 2015. It was not listed as exclusive to Xbox One, in spite of speculation that it might be.

Released over 15 years ago, the original Fallout and its sequel Fallout 2 were developed by Black Isle studios and are considered classics in the CRPG genre. The series was revived by Bethesda in 2008 with Fallout 3; Fallout: New Vegas, developed by Obsidian, was released shortly thereafter. Fallout is known for its presentation of a futuristic world laid to ruin by nuclear war, and its contrasting of fifties-era optimism with the harsh irradiated wasteland is the source of much dark humour.

Bethesda has been hiring programmers for work on a mysterious new project for the next generation consoles, and it is quite possible that Fallout 4 is it. Voice actors featured in Fallout 3 have also been called in for interviews. Though the project has not yet been formally announced by Bethesda, it seems a return to the wastes may well be on the horizon.
