Bungie to Reveal Destiny in Matter of Weeks
Studio’s Last Game was 2010’s Halo: Reach
Bungie will be finally unveiling it’s next universe, reportedly to be titled Destiny, in the coming weeks. The developer revealed the news in it’s latest Community Theatre video, which is embedded below.
“For years we’ve been working under the cover of darkness on an entirely new universe. And you’ll get to explore it very soon,” the company said. “We’re not ready to lift that curtain just yet. Within a matter of weeks, we’ll be unveiling what we’ve been creating for you.”
The developer signed a ten year publishing deal with Activision, who also publish Call of Duty. According to leaked legal documents, Destiny is scheduled to be released later this year on Xbox 360, with a planned 2014 release on PlayStation 3.
Bungie is of course most well known for creating the Halo universe. The company became a subsidiary of Microsoft who made Halo exclusive to the Xbox. They then split from Microsoft shortly after Halo 3’s release but further developed two more Halo games before signing a deal with Activision.
Bungie will be discussing Destiny at this year’s GDC in March, so presumably an unveiling should happen before then.
