Aliens: Colonial Marines Development ‘A Total Trainwreck’- Ex-Employee
Single Player Apparently Outsourced to Different Developer
Those at Gearbox Software will not be waking up to happy news this morning as their latest game, Aliens: Colonial Marines is being slammed by reviews as they continue to go live.
On Metacritic, the Xbox 360 version of the game currently holds at dismal 50 out of 100. However, it may not all be Gearbox’s fault.
An apparent ex-employee claimed on Texags.com (via EuroGamer) that the single-player part of the game had been outsourced to TimeGate Studios, developer of downloadable console shooter Section 8: Prejudice and various FEAR expansion packs.
The ex-employee wrote, “Hate to say it, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up too high for Colonial Marines. I used to work at Gearbox, and the development of that game has been a total train wreck, going on what, 6 years now?
“Gearbox isn’t even making the game, except for the multiplayer. Primary development was outsourced to TimeGate Studios, which has a less than stellar past.
“I hope it proves me wrong, as I still have alot of friends still working at Gearbox, but I am expecting it to be average at best”.
Seems like the game has indeed, failed to prove him wrong.
